When my son turned 1 year old, he started putting the circle in the right place, then the square, and now the triangle (he is 14 months old now). He even puts his cheerios in the sorter. :-) It is a uniquely brilliant sorter: Once a shape is inserted, a platform holds the shape in place within the hole so that babies can easily recognize that the remaining shapes must fit into the remaining empty holes. Of course, pushing the platform down and getting everything out is always fun to babies.
